Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0 postponed to April 2018
Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s much awaited film 2.0 will now release in April.
Chennai
The movie, which was initially scheduled to release this year on Diwali was earlier postponed to January 25, to avoid a clash with Golmaal Again. In a letter issued to the media, Lyca Productions announced that the release date of the 3D sci-fi film, directed by Shankar, has been pushed further. The movie, which also features Amy Jackson, is currently in post production.
Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has scored the music for the project, which is a sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran
National Award-winning visual effects supervisor Srinivas Mohan is working on the VFX for the film.
Talking about the film, director Shankar earlier said they decided to make the film in native 3D format since the script demanded it. “3D makes the movie-watching experience very exciting. And the movie required the 3D technology. It’s not a technological gimmick to invite audiences. After experiencing 2.0 in 3D, Indian viewers would like to watch more 3D films in theatres in future.”
Shankar said he waited for almost a year to arrive at the core plot of 2.0. “It’s entirely new, but we have all the familiar characters from Enthiran. Although we have made in Hollywood format, 2.0 is not a copy of any Hollywood movie.” Akshay Kumar had said, “Shankar’s not a director but a scientist. It’s unbelievable what he wants to say through his movie. Because of my contract, I can’t reveal much. Otherwise, I’d love to tell you guys more.”
