Thangatamilselvan, who is rallying behind sidelined leader TTV Dinakaran, observed that the Election Commission had not recognised the amendments for creating posts of coordinator and joint-coordinator and it had given the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol only to Madhusudhanan in his capacity as presidium chairman.

“In the party’s history, only the general secretary had signed the Form-B for any election, and we will certainly raise the issue during the scrutiny of nominations,” he asserted.

However, the ruling faction contended that they had convened the party’s general council in September, wherein the by-laws were amended according powers to the coordinator and joint-coordinator in issues of governing the party.

“The powers granted also include signing of Form-B, which would certify that each of the candidates (both primary and dummy candidate) whose name is mentioned is a member of the party. It would also state that his/her name is duly borne on the rolls of members of the party. We already have conveyed the amendments to the Election Commission,” he said.

Asked whether there was any specific reference regarding the ratification, the source observed that the Commission had held that Madhusudhanan was entitled to use the party’s name and symbol, since his group enjoys a majority in the party and its legislature wing.

“Therefore, there is no question of ratification of the same and the said amendments are de facto ratified,” he added.

On submission of the Form-B, the source maintained that any candidate can file the nomination first and can submit the Form-B later up to 3 pm on the last day for filing of nomination, which is December 4.
