Sridhar’s aide held in country bomb case

While Thanikachalam’s car was found abandoned in Arakkonam on Tuesday, special teams from Vishnu Kanchi police station combed the locality and arrested him. Police said that Thanikachalam was one of the henchmen of Sridhar and was responsible for collecting money and sending it to Sridhar. 

The don was operating out of Dubai, until he committed suicide under mysterious circumstances in Cambodia in October. Police said that there was a dispute as to who should take over the operations post Sridhar’s death and the hurling of country bombs near the Kancheepuram old railway station on November 25 on each other was a fall out of the in-fighting. 

Dinesh had already surrendered to police fearing for his life in the rivalry. “Sridhar’s son, Santhosh, who is studying abroad has shown no interest to take over the don’s ‘business’,” police said adding that Sridhar’s associates were now fighting for control. Sridhar was a running a land mafia and his properties worth Rs 160 crore were attached by the Police and Enforcement department last year after he was declared as proclaimed offender. 

Sridhar had escaped from Dubai using a fake Sri Lankan passport, before committing suicide in Cambodia.
