Police said that the duo Murugan and Sadiq, confessed during interrogation that they had threatened Ashok Kumar, demanding more money, leading to his suicide. Although it was said that they were arrested on charges of abetment of suicide, later police clarified that they were yet to be framed. With their detention, Anbu Chelliyan has lost the source of information on all the developments, police added.
Meanwhile, special teams remain on the lookout of Anbu Chelliyan, who has been absconding ever since Ashok Kumar committed suicide, leaving a note blaming him for taking the extreme step. Following information that the financier is hiding in Hyderabad, a team has rushed to the city. Two other teams are on the prowl in Chennai and Ramnad district. Meanwhile, a Tamil film producer filed a complaint with the city police against Anbu Chelliyan in connection with a video.
R Manimaran alleged that, “He lodged the complaint in a bid to safeguard producers and directors from loan sharks. He said a video was going viral on WhastApp, where Anbu Chelliyan was threatening Tamil Film Producers Council President Vishal. Further, he issued threats to people who were vocal against him, to instigate violence as his caste-based population outweighs the rest in the industry.”
