100-ft flag mast symbolises return of ‘Two Leaves’: Edappadi K Palaniswami
To celebrate the success of getting back the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inaugurated a 100 feet tall flag mast and hoisted the party flag at Thoppur here on Saturday.
Madurai
As part of MGR centenary function held at Ramanathapuram Palaniswami visited Madurai. He was given a rousing reception at the airport. Then he went to Thoppur and inaugurated the flag pole.
Stating that the party would remain united under all circumstances, Palaniswami said that the function is special as it is the first meeting after getting back the party symbol.
He also said that Madurai is a lucky place for the AIADMK as the first function of MGR was held here and similarly, the first function after getting back the party symbol is being held in the same place. Later, at the MGR centenary function in Ramanathapuram, Palaniswami, without naming the DMK, criticised that party as turtles without shells. Similarly, the opposition parties did not do anything good for the people and because of which people of the state had to suffer, he added. Praising the rule of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, Palaniswami termed the free distribution of laptops to students as a pioneering scheme, which helped in making students technically superior. He also criticised the DMK and Congress for their anti-fishermen policies and said that it was during the rule of the DMK that Katchatheevu was ceded to Sri Lanka.
“If the island was still part of India, the fishermen would not have to face the trouble. They would not forget the treachery of the DMK and Congress,” the CM said. Earlier, Palaniswami released the centenary post card of MGR and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam received it.
