    Retired BSF man dies of suspected dengue in Madurai

    An ex-paramilitary man Balan died of dengue here, on Wednesday. He was a retired Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from Shanthi Nagar in Madurai. Recently, Balan had high fever which did not subside despite treatment.

    He was taken to the Madurai GRH, where doctors suspected that he might be suffering from dengue. So, they began treating him for dengue, but he died on Wednesday morning. His elder brother, Pazhaniappan, said, there was water stagnation before his house and despite repeated requests, the civic authorities did not take any action. 

    But anti-dengue measures are an on-going process in Madurai, said Collector K Veera Raghava Rao. On Wednesday morning, the Collector visited Chinnachokkikulam area and inspected restaurants and houses there. He advised the residents to cover the stored clean water to prevent spread of dengue.
