DMK member appears before Jayalalithaa death probe panel
DMK member Dr P Saravanan, who lost the by-election in Tiruparankundram assembly constituency in Madurai district, on Wednesday appeared before Justice A Arumughaswamy Commission, which is inquiring into the death of former CM J Jayalalithaa.

Saravanan had earlier filed a petition in Madras HC, seeking details of Jayalalithaa’s thumb impression on affidavit filed by AK Bose, the MLA elected from the constituency, in the November 2016 by-poll. Jayalalithaa was undergoing treatment in the hospital at that time.
The petitioner raised questions about the then AIADMK supremo’s thumb impression on the Election Commission’s forms and its authenticity.
Saravanan, later talking to mediapersons, raised doubts over the thumb impressions of Jayalalithaa found in the nomination papers submitted by Bose. “The thumb impressions are not clear. So, I doubt that those impressions were taken when she was unconscious,” Saravanan said.
The commission, functioning from Ezhilagam, on Wednesday summoned two government doctors for taking their statements on Thursday.
