Minister warns Kamal against false charges
Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar gave governance lessons to actor Kamal Haasan while blaming him of reeling under ‘Guna-styled-utopia’ besides warning him of repercussions for his unmindful slander on the government sans proof.

The volley of attacks from Jayakumar came as a retaliation to the Kamal’s recent tweets in which he invoked the denizens of the state to unseat the government. The minister wondered as to why the actor could not come up with any specificity despite making a call three months ago to expose the selfclaimed corruption charges he was trading against the government and wanted the actor out of ‘Twitter’.
“We have implemented RTI Act in 2005 which can be utilised to unearth any deviation. The actor whose allegations are imaginary, can approach DVAC for redressal. If there is no response, the action can seek the help of judiciary. The law will then take its course. Such is the set up in a democracy. We no longer live in a monarchy as the actor talks about ‘Araychi Mani (alarm bell)’ being rung already. It had become archaic ever since the advent of democracy. Maybe, the actor is still rooted to his flick ‘Guna-styled-utopia’,” Jayakumar reasoned.
He further claimed that some people with a vested interest are puppeteering the actor and the Kamal’s true colour too will be revealed. Choosing Kamal’s own remarks of planning to leave the country after Viswaroopam’s release was embroiled in a controversy, Jayakumar charged Kamal with being spineless when Jayalalalithaa was alive. He blamed the actor of being the only person who had sought funds from his fans to start a political party as if it were a project. Jayakumar while accusing the actor of seeking ‘cheap publicity’ by casting aspersions on the state warned that such conduct would attract legal action, if Kamal failed to prove the charges that he traded against the government. On long-term resolution for fishermen-issue, the Minister maintained that the state in conjunction with Centre had rolled out as many as 500 long-liner boats with 90 per cent funding to promote deep-sea fishing in Palk Bay. “We also want the BJP to fulfil its poll-promise on setting up a separate welfare minister for fishermen,” he said. Jayakumar also suggested that all the assets of jailed AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala should be attached, claiming that the family was on a looting spree.
