    State bankrupt under Edappadi Palaniswami, alleges PMK

    PMK founder-president S Ramadoss on Sunday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami even while levelling serious charges of corruption and bankruptcy of state finances.

    “The treasury has become empty under the leadership of Palaniswami. The Chief Minister should step down taking responsibility for it,” he said while addressing the media here. Ramadoss also alleged corruption and rampant bribing in all the government departments across the state. 

    Claiming that a large number of projects worth Rs 3,000 crore were crippled in the Greater Chennai Corporation, the PMK leader noted even announced projects like construction of flyovers at Poonamallee High Road, T Nagar, Mylapore and Egmore were kept pending. 

    Ramadoss noted that the, “Government has not yet allocated funds to 78 projects that were announced by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa under Rule 110 of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.” Similarly, assets of state transport department were pledged to a tune of Rs 11,000 crore and the whole state is facing a debt of Rs 3.14 lakh crore, he added. 

    He also lambasted both the Dravidian parties —AIADMK and DMK— saying they had ruined the state in the last five decades.

    “Other political parties should join hands to bring in a good rule headed by the PMK,” he said. When reporters asked whether they would align with the BJP, he replied in the negative. He ignored the question on the possibility of joining hands with the VCK with a smile.
