Rs 1.32 crore aid to tribals in Jawadhu Hills
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University’s Centre for Sustainable Rural Development and Research Studies (CSRD&RS) handed over Rs.1.32 crore to 267 beneficiaries at Jamunamarhudur in the Jawadhu Hills on Tuesday.

While Tiruvannamalai district Collector KS Kandasamy handed over the largesse to beneficiaries, the funds were arranged by Indian Bank. VIT University’s CSRD and RS imparts skill development training to women and youth in rural areas to help them find employment or to set up their own businesses, as part of the University’s efforts to improve their lives. Further, it also mobilises funds to help trained women and youth to set up their own businesses.
Those present at the event included VIT VC Anand Samuel, NABARD District Development officer V Sriraman, Indian Bank Regional Manager R Gajendran, Lead District Bank Manager S Elavarasan, Avdesh Singh, Branch Manager, Jamunamarathur branch and BDOs N Prakash and L Srinivasan. CSRD&RS coordinator S Babu, proposed a vote of thanks.
