Note ban crippled industry, says Kanimozhi

“Demonetisation turned employers in small scale industrial units into employees. While people were stripped off all their money, influential persons continued to exchange black money through brokers without any hassle,” she said, while addressing a protest rally in Coimbatore on Wednesday.  

 Pointing out to the BJP’s claim that demonetisation is meant to eliminate black money, the MP declared that almost 99 per cent of the money has returned to the society. 

 “This serves no purpose, as note ban has only claimed the lives of people. Adding to it, GST came as a big blow to the society as it is levied even on medicines. GST is extra in India than any other country,” she said. Kanimozhi also lambasted the state government for not focusing on the welfare of the people. “Is there a single road laid properly by this government? Any flyover or any new water scheme undertaken?” she queried, adding that people have begun to ask when this government would fall.

 On PM Modi’s visit to Karunanidhis residence, the MP said that it is only a courtesy call and shouldn’t be politicised.
