Stalin demands for inquiry commission for damage in rail over bridge

THANJAVUR: M K Stalin, urged the government to constitute an inquiry commission to go into the lapses which resulted in the cracks in the pavement of the yet to be commissioned rail over bridge in Thanjavur.

After inspecting the yet to be opened bridge that had developed cracks during the rains, Stalin said an estimate of Rs 42 crore was prepared for constructing a bridge at the spot during the erstwhile DMK regime and since there was a regime change the project was shelved. Responding to the question about the public demand of realignment of the bridge due to the threat of frequent accidents, he said an inquiry commission would do justice to answer all the questions. If present government does not take any step, when DMK comes to power appropriate action would be taken, he warned.
