Petitioner Senthil Kumar from Tirunelveli, stated that on October 23, Esakimuthu and his family of four including two children from Kasidarmam village, had committed suicide by setting themselves ablaze inside Tirunelveli Collectorate.

Before committing suicide Esakimuthu had filed a complaint at the Achanputhur police station regarding the menace of usury. He had submitted four petitions to the Tirunelveli Collector but there was no action.

Dejected, Esakimuthu committed suicide. Though he had sent petitions to the Chief Secretary and to IG (South Zone), no action was taken on them.

So, the court should direct to take action on the officials and a part of their salary should be given as compensation to relatives of Esakimuthu, prayed the petitioner.
