    Dam levels rise in Kumari district

    Because of the continuous rain and constant inflow of water, water levels at the dams in Kanniyakumari district have risen steadily. The district has been receiving steady rainfall ever since the northeast monsoon set in.

    Pechiparai dam had received 48.2 mm of rainfall on Sunday and the water level in the dam had risen from 23.7 feet on Saturday to 25.4 feet on Sunday. Similarly, Perunchani dam received 19.8 mm of rainfall and the dam level rose from 53.65 feet on Saturday to 57.2 feet on Sunday. 

    Rainfall recorded at Chitrar-I dam was 53.2 mm and owing to continuous rain, water level in the dam rose from 9.84 feet on Saturday to 10.10 feet on Sunday. Also the Chitrar-II dam received 13.2 mm of rainfall and so the water level in the dam rose from 9.94 feet on Saturday to 10.20 feet on Sunday. Apart from dam areas, Palamore in Kanniyakumari received the highest rainfall of 114.6 mm in the district. 

    Kozhiporevilai received 75.8 mm and Eraniel received 64 mm of rainfall.
