In a first, TNCC to go the e-way for Youth Congress poll
After campaigns, now elections are also going hi-tech in parties. The youth wing of the Congress is set to opt for app-based system to elect its office-bearers. The EVA (electronic voting application) would be applied to elect District and Assembly constituency level office-bearers of the State Youth Congress in a month.
Chennai
Jebi Mathar, secretary, All India Youth Congress (AIYC), said that the use of EVA would come into place before announcing the dissolution of the various posts held in the youth wing at Parliamentary, Assembly and state levels.
As per the new system, an eligible voter of Youth Congress would be able to cast his or her vote only on a tablet, and that too only after the district or assembly returning officers who run the booths receive an OTP (one time password). The password would be sent to the DRO or ARO every time a voter enters his/ her serial number or voters ID number in a tablet available with the returning officer. The new system, apart from minimising irregularities, would also reduce counting time.
The Youth Congress election would be conducted in the first week of December, Mathar said at party headquarters Sathyamurthy Bhavan on Saturday.Â
As regards the election, of the 2.88 lakh primary member strong Tamil Nadu Youth Congress, only 57,715 special members would be eligible to contest.Â
