Focus on water borne diseases
Owing to the heavy rains in the state, the Health Department is now focusing on water borne diseases.

Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar on Saturday inaugurated 106 mobile medical camps in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts to prevent the spread of diseases at the Health and Family Welfare Training Centres.
“Medical camps are being organised in water stagnant as well as drained areas. The officials are also asked to keep a check on water borne diseases such as diarrhoea. We are creating awareness among people by distributing pamphlets and health teams are ensuring the distribution of chlorinated water,” the Health Minister said.
He also said that efforts are being made to ensure that water lorries are maintaining a free chlorine residual of at least 0.5 ppm.
