AR personnel killed in accident at Maduranthagam
Three men, including an Armed Reserve (AR) personnel, died and three others suffered injuries in two different accidents on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

Police said that Emmanuel (25), an AR personnel of Tirunelveli, was riding a bike with his friend, Mohan (25) on Maduranthagam-Perambakkam Road on Monday night when they were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at Melvelapakkam near Sriperumpudur.Â
While Emmanuel died on the spot, Mohan, a CRPF personnel, was admitted to Sriperumpudur GH with grievous injuries. Sriperumpudur police have booked a case and are tracing the vehicle that caused the accident.Â
In another accident, two people were killed on NH 45 in the zero hours of Tuesday. The deceased, Vembarasan (45) and Venkatraman (27), were returning to Maduranthagam in a car along with five other friends. When they were passing by Melavalampet around 1.15 am, a cargo-laden van proceeding towards Chennai ran amok and rammed the median, before hitting the four-wheeler coming in the opposite direction. In the impact, Vembarasan died on the spot, while Venkatraman was declared brought dead to a hospital.Â
Others who suffered injuries are admitted in the hospital.
