DVAC raids Vellore Corporation, seizes cash

A DVAC team led by DSP Balalsubramanain entered the premises in the morning, locked all doors and ordered that all staff be on the premises before starting search operations. While Rs.1.10 lakh unaccounted cash was seized from Kubendran’s room, Rs 20,000 was seized from junior assistant Mallika and Rs 9,700 from Bangaramma, a retired and re-employed Corporation employee. 

In what is literally a repeat of what transpired two months ago when the then commissioner T Kumar was caught with cash of Rs 20, 0000 being the bribe received from a contractor to issue him a cheque for anti -dengue work, the present incumbent Kubendran has been caught in a similar manner. 

He too had allegedly demanded a bribe to release funds for anti -dengue work. The search also included the Commissioner’s car and later, his residence. At the time of reporting the search operations were still continuing.
