DMK asks RBI to reveal Sekar Reddy’s source of new Rs 2,000 notes
Leader of Opposition MK Stalin has asked the Reserve Bank of India to immediately share with CBI the details pertaining to the source from where sand mafia baron Sekar Reddy received two thousand rupees to the tune of Rs 33.6 crore.

Expressing shock at the submission of CBI in the court that they could not make headway in the investigation against Reddy due to RBI’s inability to ascertain the source of the currency notes, Stalin said the apex bank’s inability has proven the miserable failure of the Centre in eliminating black money.
Pointing out that currency notes were being printed in Centre-controlled facilities, the DMK working president said that it was hard to believe that the CBI could not trace the source bank of the Rs 2,000 denomination notes seized from Reddy.
Opining that the inability of RBI and submission of CBI in the court have brought the probe to a standstill, the DMK working president referred to Reddy’s prayer seeking to quash the case against him and said that it has led people to doubt if RBI has the political backing to derail the investigation. Referring to Rs 570 crore seizure in Tiruppur, raids at former chief secretary P Rama Mohana Rao and a host of other AIADMK leaders, including incumbent and former ministers involved in Gutkha among the scams, Stalin said the I-T raids conducted in the state before and after demonetisation were hanging in balance.
Seeking to know why probe on black money seized during I-T raids here alone were being deliberately stalled, Stalin asked the Centre to immediately initiate action on the I-T raids conducted in Reddy and other Minister’s places at least while observing anti-black money day.
