The minister reiterated that there was no change in their policy opposing NEET and the respective case was pending in Supreme Court. ‘We have made this arrangement so that the setback should not deprive our students the opportunity to get medical admissions, and enter other elite institutes,” Sengottaiyan reasoned.
“As per the agreement, the expertise of the agency will be used for three years for free. The lessons will be casted simultaneously in all centres. At the end of every session, the doubts over the discussed topic will be clarified either at the centre level, or by the lead instructor through video conferencing. Thirty volumes of bi-lingual study material will be distributed to students as and when the concerned subject was completed,” Sengottaiyan said.
The minister said that as many as 13,740 students had enrolled so far, and was expecting the figure to touch 20,000. While a total of 412 centres would become operational post-January, he stated that as many as 100 centres would soon become operational.
On budget, the minister said that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami would allocate Rs 20 crore towards expenses. He added that a separate time-table would be soon issued for the special classes by factoring in all the issues.
“Steps are in place to print ID cards as the department is in the process of finalising the list of enrolled students. The need-based deadline extension for online application would be considered. The coaching will be limited to government and aided school students, and further intake of private school students will be considered if there is any vacancy,” the minister said.
