Relief to SVS college in Homeopathy counselling
In a big relief to SVS Educational and Social Trust, which is running SVS Medical College of Yoga and Naturopathy, in which three students had died under suspicious circumstances, the Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University to include the college for counselling in Homeopathy for the academic year 2017-18.
Chennai
Justice N Kirubakaran, before whom a batch of petitions filed by the institution has come up, in his order said, “A Division Bench of the High Court on March 15, 2017, had directed the University to include the above institution for counselling in respect of Naturopathy. Invoking the above reasoning there should not be any prohibition for the University to continue the affiliation which was already granted by the University and to include the name of the above institution in the ongoing counselling.”
“It is needless to say that the order of disaffiliation dated November 21, 2016, passed by the University is a non-speaking order and the said order had already been stayed by this court. Therefore, the above University is directed to include the petitioner’s institution for counselling in Homeopathy for the academic year 2017-18 pending disposal of the writ petition,” Justice Kirubakaran added.
The institution, apart from other things, had sought for a direction to the Dr MGR Medical University to issue the continuance of provisional affiliation for the academic years 2016-17 and 2017-18.
