    Kumari Ananthan held in Dharmapuri

He also sought for interlinking of rivers and to enforce prohibition in the state.

Accompanied by his supporters, Ananthan marched towards the memorial of freedom fighter Subramania Siva, the venue of the protest, however cops intercepted and arrested him along with others. He had announced an indefinite fast at the end of his protest march, if the government fails to issue an order for building a temple as envisioned by Subramania Siva.

Subramania Siva dreamt of a temple for Bharat Mata and its foundation stone was laid in six acres of gifted land in 1923, but the works failed to take off following his death. Congress leaders have been demanding a temple on the site for a long time. Former Dharmapuri Collector R Lilly expressed the desire of the state in building a temple, but there was no progress. Ananthan said that he will continue his protest by fasting in prison, until a temple is built at the site.
