Sivakasi to get Corporation upgrade: CM Edappadi K Palaniswami

Addressing the party cadres and public at Sivakasi, the Chief Minister said that Sivakasi can be called ‘Little Japan’ as people work hard in the place. To honour the town, the government has decided to make it a Corporation by merging Thiruthangal Municipality and the nine neighbouring panchayats such as Sithurajapuram, Viswanatham, Narayanapuram, Pallapatti, Anuppankulam, Thevarkulam, Anaiyur, Sengamalanachiyarpuram and Saminatham. 

He explained that the process of acquiring land for laying an outer ring road to a distance of 33.48 km is going on. The Chief Minister inaugurated 146 new buildings and laid the foundation for eight new schemes and distributed welfare measures to the tune of Rs 54.87 crore to 21,733 beneficiaries. 

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Speaker Dhanpal, State Minister for Dairy Development KT Rajenthira Balaji, State Forest Minister Dindigul Srinivasan, State Minister for Cooperation Sellur K Raju, participated. 

Earlier, the Chief Minister had gone to Tirumangalam to garland the statue of Muthuramalinga Thevar.
