    4 children die in Central districts, Madurai, Ramnad

    Dengue has claimed the lives of children not only in the Central districts but also in Madurai and Ramanathapuram. Two boys, aged three and seven, died of the disease in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts on Sunday.

    Three-year-old Harihara Sreedhar, son of Seetharaman, an auto driver and Anitha, was hospitalised a few days ago as he was suffering from high fever. As his condition worsened, the boy was shifted to Dharmapuri Government Hospital, where he was diagnosed with dengue. 

    Despite treatment, Harihara Sreedhar succumbed to dengue in the morning. It is said that so far, as many as eight persons have died of dengue in Dharmapuri district. 

    In another incident, seven-year-old Mohandas, son of Chinnathambi from Uthangarai Taluk, was admitted to Tirupattur Government Hospital in Vellore for fever. 

    The boy, studying in Class 3 in a private school, was later shifted to the Dharmapuri Government Hospital, but he succumbed, on Sunday.

    In Madurai too 

    Two children aged 9 and 2 have died of suspected dengue, in Madurai on Sunday. 

    In the first incident, Naveen Kumar (9), from Avaniyapuram in Madurai, died at the Madurai GRH on Sunday morning. Sources at the GRH said that Naveen Kumar was suffering from fever since October 16 and was initially treated at a private hospital near his house. 

    However, as his condition worsened, he was rushed to the Madurai GRH and was given treatment. Despite good care, his platelets count decreased and he died without responding to treatment. 

    In another incident, Siva Guru (2), of Nehru Nagar near Paramakudi in Ramanthapuram district was suffering from intense fever for a few days. 

    Initially, he was treated at a private hospital at Paramakudi and then shifted to a private hospital in Madurai. However, as his health condition did not improve and he was shifted to Madurai GRH where he died, on Sunday.
