Was harassed for exposing corruption: SI
A day after a sub-inspector attempted suicide by consuming poison, it has emerged that he had made a Facebook video where he claimed to have been harassed by his superiors for exposing corruption in the police department.

Sub-inspector Srikanth, attached to Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion (TSP) in Vellore, has also alleged corruption by senior officers in the video. He said he was being tortured over his decision to expose wrongdoings in the department.
“I was also forced to sign duplicate bills to pay bribes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 to a Commandant. I lost my peace of mind as I was being pressurised to do dishonest things. I decided to end my life to teach a lesson to these corrupt officers,” he said in the video.
Srikanth, who was earlier posted at TSP in Kovaipudur, was transferred to Vellore six months ago after he took up a fight against tree smuggling from the camp in Kovaipudur. He shot pictures of trees being chopped and loaded onto a lorry illegally from the campus during the night.
“I sent the photos to senior officials, but there was no action. Instead I was transferred to Vellore,” Srikanth alleged. Further, he blamed superiors for forcing lower rung cadre to get bribes for them. Two days ago, the cop had visited his family residing at the police quarters in Kovaipudur to celebrate Deepavali.
On Thursday morning, Srikanth attempted suicide by consuming synthetic cow dung powder at his residence.
