    Three killed in drunken brawl in Kovai

    Petty quarrels ended up in murder of three persons on Deepavali in Coimbatore. Police said M Arumugam, 51, a driver from Sarojini Street in Pollachi was stabbed to death by Guru, 50 from Tuticorin at a lodge on Madapam Street in Pollachi.

    Arumugam, who was staying in the lodge, ever since he got separated from his wife a year ago, had befriended Guru, who is into watch business and staying in the same place. “A quarrel broke out between them, while consuming liquor and Guru stabbed him to death,” police said. 

    In another incident, police arrested four persons Chandru, 25, Gokulnathan, 24, Aneesh Kumar, 21 and Ravi, 23, all hailing from SNS Layout for killing R Suresh Kumar, 28 from Annai Indira Nagar over a minor quarrel. 

    “Suresh Kumar and his friend Karthik from Ramachandra Naidu Street, both employed in a lathe unit had picked up a quarrel in an inebriated condition with rival members for firing crackers on their pathway. As their wordy duel snowballed into a fisticuff, the four men had stabbed the duo with knives,” police said.

    While Suresh succumbed to bleeding injuries on the spot, Karthik has been hospitalised. In the third incident, the charred body of the deceased identified as K Chinnadurai, from Narasipuram near Thondamuthur was found at an isolated spot near Perur. He bore injury marks due to an attack with a beer bottle.
