Vismitha, daughter of Satyamurthy was down with fever over the last ten days and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. As she was diagnosed with dengue, the girl was shifted to the CMCH for treatment two days ago.

She was admitted in a special ward for dengue; however Vismitha died without responding to treatment on Wednesday night. Her death comes just days after Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani said that there were no dengue deaths in Coimbatore.

The Minister on Tuesday said that even the Central team to study dengue deaths hasn’t come to Coimbatore as there are no cases here. As many as 42 persons are undergoing treatment at the CMCH.

    Don’t distribute nilavembu: Kamal

Actor Kamal Haasan, who has been taking on the government on various issues, tweeted recently to his fans and association members to abstain from distributing Nilavembu Kudineer to the public without proper research on the side effects of the decoction. He further said that not only the allopath doctors need to research on the medicine being prescribed, even the traditional medicine experts could have come out with the details of the efficacy of the same. “It is well known that all medicines have side effects,” he argued.

    Action against actor sought

A man claiming to be a social activist on Thursday filed a petition at the City Police Commissionerate seeking action against Kamal Haasan for creating panic among people.

“Since allopathy doesn’t have a cure for dengue, nilavembu tonic proved to be an effective alternative. But Kamal’s tweet has created panic among the people, while he does all this with an agenda against the government led by Edappadi K Palaniswami,” said G Devarajan, after submitting the petition.
