Couple ends life over rape of daughter

Police said Rajaperumal and his wife Ambika from Puducherry had consumed poison at Tirupur bus stand. While the couple took the drink laced with poison, they did not mix it in the drink given to the girl, police said. 

The minor girl was recently raped by a man, said to be her relative, who was then arrested by the police in Puducherry. Depressed over the unfortunate event, the couple along with their daughter had visited Palani and reached Tirupur on their way back on Saturday night.

They bought soft drinks, mixed it with poison and consumed it. As they had bouts of vomiting, the public after enquiring had rushed them all to Tirupur GH. 

Police seized a suicide note from the couple, in which they had stated of taking the extreme step upset over the rape of their minor daughter. The girl has been admitted to a shelter home in Tirupur.
