Remove Biswas from panel: Stalin
DMK working president MK Stalin has urged Union Health Minister JP Nadda to immediately withdraw AIIMS doctor Ashutosh Biswas from the Central team currently touring the state to assess the impact of dengue.
Chennai
Stalin made the demand after the doctor reportedly said that “eliminating dengue was not in the hands of the government,” which, the opposition leader claimed, was triggering panic among the people.
Expressing shock at the statement of the doctor, who had also reportedly said, “The death of 40 people is nothing compared to 12,000 people affected,” Stalin asked the Minister to advise his team to undertake the assessment in a manner that would help make constructive efforts to eliminate dengue here.
Comparing the casualty numbers revealed by the Central team, which put it at 40 and the report of the state government, which claims that only 18 people have died due to dengue in the state, Stalin said that it was highly condemnable that the ruling party has made it a habit to misrepresent facts pertaining to death, be it dengue or farmers’ suicide.
