Andamans health Director under CBI scanner
The CBI has initiated a probe against director of health services in Andaman & Nicobar Islands along with four others including two officials in connection with purchasing high value branded medicine in huge quantity for supplying it to health units despite having indented generic medicine and low cost medicines.

This had caused unlawful loss of Rs 79 lakh to the government during 2015 and 16.Â
The CBI FIR was registered against Dr Shirpa Paul, director of health services, A&N administration, Dr Anwar Moosa, the former chief medical officer, stores, directorate of health services, Mohammed Shabeeb, homeo pharmacist, DHS, Sanjay, partner, Jaya Medical and M A Tauheed, of TT Trading, all residents of Port Blair.Â
The case was registered under the provisions of prevention of corruption act along with IPC sections for cheating and criminal conspiracy.Â
CBI says that the heath director had also accepted illegal gratification from private suppliers while conducting his daughter’s marriage in the form of hotel accommodation in Bengaluru or the guests arriving for marriage.
