Don Sridhar commits suicide in Cambodia

Sridhar Dhanapal was referred as Dawood Ibrahim of Tamil Nadu, after he started operating from Dubai, like the real Dawood. He faces 43 cases, including 7 murders in the state. He went to Dubai in the year 2013 and never returned despite enforcement agencies kept on summoning and questioning his wife, daughter and son whenever they visited the state.

Though he was a native of Thiruparuthikundram in Kancheepuram, his last known address here was Elappan Nagar in Sevilimedu in Kancheepuram. 

From being an arrack seller two decades ago, Sridhar Dhanapal, a proclaimed offender, has grown into a don based out of Dubai and had surpassed the expectations of even his rivals. Police had seen him making calls from Dubai and arm twisting landowners to make them sell their property at a price he dictates. After the state police and enforcement directorate intensified the hunt for him, he had vanished from Dubai in the beginning of the year 2017 and moved to South East Asia. 

Police turned a blind eye towards his illegal activities till two years ago, as he acquired over 125 properties worth over Rs 150 crore in his name and in the names of his family members. Enforcement Directorate and Kancheepuram police had attached 128 properties belonging to him and his family members in connection with various cases including money laundering.
