    Rs 1 crore set as Deepavali sale target for LoomWorld

    Minister for Handloom and Textiles OS Manian launched a special Handloom exhibition-cum-sale ahead of Deepavali festival, organised by the staterun LoomWorld in conjunction with the department of Handlooms and Textiles at Sri Vidya Marriage Hall in Tiruvanmiyur on Tuesday.

    Speaking to the media persons after the inauguration, the minister said that the fair would help popularise LoomWorld brand among public. The fair falls under Trichy Mega Handloom Cluster Scheme and will be open for public until October 15, between 10 am and 9 pm. 

    A release stated that the Handlooms and Textiles department has set a target to sell Rs 1 crore worth products through the exhibition during this festive season.

    To increase the sale, the handloom and textile products featured in the exhibition would get an additional discount of 10 per cent along with the existing 20 per cent deal offered for the range by the government. Hundreds of Handloom Weavers Co-operative Societies from across the state are participating in the sale under one roof. 

    Thirubuvanam, Kancheepuram, Arani, and Salem silk sarees, silk dhotis, Coimbatore soft silk sarees, Paramakudi cotton sarees, Chettinadu sarees, Vilanthai sarees, bed sheets from Erode and home essential textiles, towels, Bhavani jamakkalam (floor mats), Chinnalapatti cotton sarees, and lungies, among other things would form the range in the display.

    Those who can’t make it to the venue can log on to the LoomWorld website (www.loomworld.in) and place their orders. 

    LoomWorld Showrooms are functioning at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchy, Dharmapuri, Kancheepuram and Erode to popularize the brand store, which was first opened in 2000, by renaming and re-orienting the Tamil Nadu Handloom Co-op Marketing Complex which was originally established in 1994.
