Will fight till the end for ‘Two Leaves’, says Dinakaran

Speaking to reporters at Vikravandi, while on his way to Ariyalur, he said the fight for the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol would be a long-drawn battle in courts and the Election Commission’s decision would not be final. He added that the rival group too would move the court if the symbol was allocated to him.

Dinakaran’s assertion comes two days after the Election Commission rejected his plea for 15 days time to submit the documents required to claim the party and ‘Two Leaves’ symbol. Both the factions submitted the documents with the Election Commission on September 29, the last day given by the EC.

The Chief Minister’s group is optimistic of winning the case after the EC asked both the groups to submit the list of MLAs, MPs and general council members supporting them. Ministers D Jayakumar and C Ve Shanmugam had confidently declared that they had shown the support of 95 per cent of the party members, besides 44 MPs and 115 MLAs.

Palaniswami’s group had also submitted the resolution adopted by them removing VK Sasikala from the general secretary’s post and expelling Dinakaran. The council had also declared that former chief minister J Jayalalithaa would remain as the permanent general secretary of the party.

At Ariyalur, Dinakaran along with the MLAs supporting him and three MLAs of alliance parties visited Anitha’s house and offered Rs 15 lakh to her family from the monthly salary of the MLAs.
