Tirunelveli GH staff protest Collector’s act

The staff raised slogans against the Collector in front of the Dean’s office and then resumed work with black ribbons. The protesters said that recently, the Collector had conducted late evening meetings and came down heavily on the officials for the prevalence of Dengue. The Collector behaved rudely with officials on many occasions and so they felt insulted in front of officials of other departments. 

“Our protest is against the rude behavior of the Collector,” the protesters said. 

However, sources in Tirunelveli said that the Collector had recently called the Dean and had asked her to set up a ‘Wall of Kindness’ at the hospital near the maternity ward. The Dean had refused to do so as miscreants might enter the hospital and there are chances of child kidnapping incidents.  When the Dean refused to accept the Collector’s words, he had become angry and had shouted at her. 

The Dean has over 35 years of experience and the Collector without any respect for her age had abused her, the sources added. However, the Collector refuted the allegations and said that he just discussed the possibilities of setting up the kindness wall as the students of the Tirunelveli medical college sought for it inside the hospital. 

“The Dean cited some practical difficulties and the plan was dropped and the issue was over,” he said.
