Single judge order on DME’s appointment stayed
The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, on Wednesday, stayed the verdict of a single judge on the appointment of Edwin Joe as Director of Medical Education(DME) and ordered status quo in the case. The court had also directed the petitioner Revathy Kailairajan to submit affidavit in the case.
Madurai
Revathy Kailairajan, in her Writ of Mandamus, had stated that, according to special rules of appointment of DME the person to be appointed as DME should have at least one year left over for retirement and also should have worked as a Dean for at least two years.
But the rules were not followed in the appointment of DME and favouritism was shown to Edwin Joe while appointing him as the DME. Also, Edwin Joe has lesser experience as Dean when compared to her and so had prayed the court to quash his appointment and to direct the government to appoint her as DME.
