Pondy PG medical admission a failure, says Lt Governor
Maintaining that the PG Medical Admission which had invited a CBI probe and filing of FIR against officials is a case of colossal failure of political and administrative leadership at all levels, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday said that it was time for the Chief Minister and Minister for Health in particular to take the responsibility for this and also the embarrassment to Puducherry.

In a WhatsApp message, Bedi said the CBI would not have registered an FIR of this scale without credible evidence. She said that she had no doubt that the CBI would investigate whose instructions the officers were carrying out. Alongside is the role of the chief secretary for failing to ensure due coordination between the departments for effective corrective action, she added. Â
She said had the parents association and the students not repeatedly complained and informed the MCI, and the Lt Governor’s office not intervened, had the government of the day paid heed to the report of the Justice Chitra Venkataraman listing out all that went wrong, had the MCI not taken strong action and had the PIL not fructified and the Madras High Court not passed the clear order and had the SC not declined to stay the pleas of private medical colleges, injustice would have prevailed.
