Stating that the group had no plans to meet Sasikala in prison, he said, “How can we meet her, when our case came up for hearing in the MHC on Wednesday?” Blaming the media for publishing sensational news without checking, he added that the next course of action would be decided after he meets Dinakaran at his residence on Wednesday.
Describing the court order as a “victory” for the group, he said, their counsel Arvind Dhave had argued against the state government for closing their constituency offices and their rooms in the Chennai MLAs hostel.
Expelled MLAs can’t enter Assembly, says MP
Rajya Sabha MP and AIADMK deputy coordinator of the party R Vaithilingam, here on Wednesday, said that the disqualified MLAs cannot enter the Assembly and they will be prevented if they attempt to make an entry. Speaking to reporters, on the sidelines of the 240th birth anniversary of King Serfoji II, who developed the famous Saraswathi mahal library, Vaithilingam said, “The Speaker had taken the right step by declaring all the 18 constituencies as vacant. Since the Speaker informed about the disqualification of the 18 MLAs, their constituencies were declared vacant and it is legal.”
Stating that Dinakaran has been speaking about the disqualified MLAs who will soon enter the Assembly, Vaithilingam, in response, said, they are not eligible to enter the House and TTV has been misguiding them. He also laughed at Dinakaran’s statement of sleeper cells in the ruling faction.
Earlier, minister R Doarikannu released 11 books published by the Saraswathi Mahal library to commemorate the 240th birth anniversary of King Serfoji II, who developed the palace into a library as one of the foremost manuscripts library in Asia.
After releasing the books, the minister said, the library has a rich collection of both the printed books and the manuscripts and it contains books on literature, medicine, science and home science and other topics. He also stressed that school teachers should bring their students to the library and train them to use it to enrich their knowledge. MPs R Vaithilingam and K Parasuraman, district Collector A Annadurai and others were present.
