Camaraderie with Centre only to secure benefits for state: EPS

Palaniswami reiterated that their truck with the Centre was necessary as a means to secure necessary schemes, clearances for state projects, and funds. 

Citing the recent announcement from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on setting up a Japanese Industrial Township (JIT) in the state, the CM observed that such schemes would be sanctioned only if there was a good rapport with the Centre. JIT is also coming up in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. He observed that they had made a plea to the Centre for setting up of Industrial Township. 

“We made the plea considering to generate employment for graduates, and the same was conceded. This rapport also translates to goodwill from Centre as it evinced when Modi came to inaugurate the memorial of former President APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameswaram. Modi assured that he would sanction any number of houses for the poor under the Central and State schemes,” he said. 

“Unlike the DMK regimes, the AIADMK regimes would always be people centric. Our former CM J Jayalalithaa was instrumental in getting things done by the Centre as and when required for the denizens here,” he added. 

He also criticised the DMK for not being people-centric. Palaniswami reiterated that there was no threat to the government and nobody can disturb the government. He charged the sacked AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran of having trucked with DMK to disrupt the government. 

The CM laid foundation stone for a joint drinking water scheme by utilising Cauvery water. The project would provide drinking water to rural households in Alampalayam, Padavedu, Tiruchengode, Sangagiri and Pallipalayam areas. It will benefit 3.57 lakh villages. Including the joint drinking water scheme executed at a cost of Rs 185.24 crore, foundations stones were laid to a total of 33 projects amounting to estimated expenditure of RS 332.24 core.
