No continuous structures at Keezhadi: ASI
The archaeologist in-charge of Keezhadi on Saturday stated that the buildings excavated were independent dwellings.

The final report of the third phase of excavation at Keezhadi archeological site at Sivaganga district was released on Saturday.
According to superintending archaeologist of ASI, Sriraman said that of the two brick structures that were found, the first was a small damaged building with three ring wells and the second brick structure is a non-continuous wall.
“They were the only brick structures found at Keezhadi in the third phase which proves that the brick structures at Keezhadi were neither continuous nor extensive,” stated the report. The first two phases of excavation at Keezhadi were carried out in 2015 and 2016 and the third phase commenced on May 27, 2007. The excavation was carried out in 400 square meters in 16 four trenches and 16 quadrants.
As the third phase of excavation which was carried out at R.40 lakh is about to end in September 30 as the ASI released the report of third phase of excavation. In its report, the ASI said that though the excavation had reached the same depth as that of first and second phase, no artifacts were found that could be connected to the first two phases.
Among the 1,800 artifacts that were unearthed, more than 1,500 of them were beads and of them, 90 per cent of them were in glass. The excavators also found a part of an ivory comb, toys, brass earrings, pieces of bones, iron bits, damaged brass coins and five small golden objects.
