Leading the anti-NEET protest of the Opposition in Tambaram on Wednesday morning, Stalin referred to the representation he had made with the Governor on Sunday and said that he had received reports about the Governor flying to Mumbai a day after their representation in which he had cautioned that it would be his last on the issue of conducting the floor test in the House. “We filed a case because of that indifference (of the Governor). The petition would be taken up on Thursday. We are hopeful that a good verdict would be delivered,” Stalin added.

“Whether it is a favourable or an unfavourable verdict, we will consult all party leaders and mobilize people to resolve not only the NEET row, but to save the people of the state, from a paralysed administration,” the DMK working president said, before adding that all party leaders would get in to a huddle in a couple of days to discuss the nature of the next stage of protest against NEET and announce the same soon. He also exuded confidence that the next protest would be the last one advising the ruling dispensation.

Recalling the run up to the September 8 all-party rally against NEET in the aftermath of the Supreme Court clarification on demonstrations against NEET, the DMK working president accused the district police of attempting to stop their rally at the behest of the BJP leaders there. Seeking to know again as to why the ruling AIADMK was silent on Centre’s inaction on the anti-NEET resolutions sent by Tamil Nadu Assembly, Stalin said the time has come to mobilize people not only to abolish NEET, but also to save the state from ruling AIADMK and BJP. State Congress president Su Thirunavukkarasar and DMK RS MP Kanimozhi also led agitations at Valluvar Kottam in the city.
