MCI: Discharge management quota seats in Pondy colleges
Alleging violation of Supreme Court directives, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has directed the Health Secretary and the department director in Puducherry to discharge all students admitted in the management quota in Deemed Universities and private medical colleges during 2016-17.
Puducherry
MCI joint secretary Dr Rajendra Wabale, in a letter, informed the Health Secretary and the director that the President of the Puducherry UT All Centac Students Parents Association lodged a complaint with the MCI stating that the MBBS admission for the year 2016-17 was illegal.Â
The letter was placed before the Monitoring Sub-Committee (MSC), which, after going through the letter from Puducherry Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi dated July 12, 2017 and the report of Justice Chitra Venkataraman who is the Chairperson of Centac, felt that there was no exemption from NEET for any non-government medical colleges for the academic year 2016-17. The committee decided that admissions were to be made through common counselling conducted by designated authorities of the government.Â
The Executive committee approved the recommendations of the MSC and directed the authorities to discharge all the students who are not admitted through Centac for 2016-17.
