Stalin takes lessons for BJP on House rules
Leader of Opposition M K Stalin on Monday accused the state BJP leaders of trying to divert the issue of chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami lacking majority in the State Assembly.

When reporters drew his attention to BJP leaders questioning DMK for not moving a no confidence motion in the House, Stalin said that it was unfortunate that the saffron party leaders were unaware that the House must be re-convened by the Governor after it was prorogued by the Speaker.
“We cannot convene the House. We can move the no confidence motion only if the House got convened. Only the Governor has the power to re-convene the House now or Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who does not have the majority in the House, should recommend the Governor to convene the House to prove his majority or BJP leaders who defend the horse-trading AIADMK regime should make that request to the Governor. Blaming us is only a diversionary tactic,” he told media persons at DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam, a day after he gave an ultimatum to Raj Bhavan to acquiesce to their request to call for a floor test in the House in a week.
Asked about the Madurai bench of Madras High Court ordering the opening of Navodhya schools in the state, the DMK working president said the ruling BJP at the Centre was functioning with the aim of advancing its communal agenda in Tamil Nadu.
Sparing a thought for the ruling AIADMK MLAs, some of whom were holidaying near Mysore, Stalin referred to the ongoing farmers protests in Neduvasal, Kathiaramangalam and New Delhi and said, “People from all walks of life want this party out of power. Our petition to the Governor had only reflected that sentiment of the people.”
