    BSNL executives plan nationwide strike for wage revision

    The All India BSNL Executives Association (AIBSNLEA) that held a meeting here on Tuesday with its Central Headquarters president S Sivakumar urged for the implementation of the Third Pay Revision Committee by the Central government.

    With BSNL getting back and in making profits in various circles through its innovative campaigns, employees are demanding a wage hike. Otherwise, the association has planned for a nationwide strike in the end of September. 

    Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Sivakumar said that the BSNL unions and associations have come together to implement the third revision committee recommendations report with 15 per cent salary benefits as a single and common demand through negotiations or the decisive struggle keeping aside all the differences at this crucial juncture. 

    “Due to the combined efforts of the employees and management, BSNL operating profit saw six fold jump – from Rs 672 crore in the preceding year to Rs 3855 crore in 2015-16 and BSNL revenue from operations increased to 4.4 per cent at Rs 28449 crore during the financial year ended in March 2016,” he added.

    Amid stiff competition from the private players, growth of mobile connections in BSNL has been increased remarkably through innovative campaigns, he further said.
