The Madras High Court on Monday refused to suo motu take cognisance of the Government Order which directs drivers of all vehicles to compulsorily carry their original driving licences with them.
Chennai
When the division bench comprising Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice N Seshasayee commenced their sitting for the day, social activist Traffic Ramaswamy made a mention about the Government Order and sought the bench to take suo motu cognisance of it.Â
But the bench on noting that the matter requires no urgent hearing said Traffic Ramaswamy can go ahead and file a writ petition, which will be taken up for hearing in the routine course.Â
The matter relates to the announcement made by the State Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar that all the vehicle drivers should carry their original driving licenses with them from September 1 onwards.
