Sources said the proposal for the much-awaited ouster of Sasikala would be placed before the gathering of the two prime bodies. The move is likely to face stiff opposition from Sasikala loyalists, including the likes of minister OS Manian and MLA AK Bose (Thiruparankundram). The fissured AIADMK had to call for the gathering as these two bodies are vested with powers to alter the byelaws and abolish party posts as well. The carefully worded statement of resolutions passed on Monday reiterated that the appointment of Sasikala was a stop-gap arrangement pending EC approval.

Fisheries minister D Jayakumar said that Sasikala’s elevation as general secretary would be taken up for discussion in the ensuing general council and executive committee meeting.

“A decision would be taken in the meeting,” he said. The gathering might abolish the post of the general secretary as hinted by the party’s earlier statement, which stated that they cannot bear someone else decorating the post of the general secretary once adorned by the late and former CM J Jayalalithaa. It had also declared the appointment of party’s deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran as null and void.

Nullifying all the appointments made by Sasikala and dismissals and appointments made by TTV Dinakaran.

Retrieving AIADMK party organ ‘Namadhu MGR’ and Jaya TV through legal means.
