Reporter's Diary: Resort politics version 2 sees more transparent MLAs
Twice in six months, AIADMK MLAs were holed up in sea-fronted resorts. First, at Koovathur near Mamallapuram in February last, and now at Chinnaveeram Pattinam in Puducherry, to protect or pull down the government, respectively. However, another aspect differentiates Puducherry from Koovathur

Back in February, the entire AIADMK contingent of 122 MLAs was kept away from the reach of families and friends, let alone the media, which had struggled to even catch a glimpse of the ‘ordinary’ MLAs during the week ahead of the vote of confidence motion in the Assembly.
However, the “self-imposed” or “forced” curfews and controls have been given a go-by in Puducherry. Track suit and t-shirt clad MLAs were happily posing for lensmen during their morning jogs and a few had even given sound bites to the media. A few TV anchors were even ‘invited’ to interview the most articulate of the MLAs in the resort. One telling picture of two MLAs playing see-saw in the resort, which was later posted on social networking sites, had aptly summarised the mood and climate in the Puducherry resorts. A few have also come out to offer a grand reception to AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran, who was in Theni and Madurai on Sunday.
