According to weathermen, light to moderate rains are expected to continue for two more days in most parts of the state. “Cloudy conditions with moderate rain are likely to continue in most parts of the city. Possibly, high clouds could keep things slightly on the humid side as the days progress,” the weathermen added.

    Rain in isolated areas

A senior RMC official said there might be light to moderate rain in isolated areas in the state. “As of now, conditions are favourable for the state to receive rain. But, if a new low-pressure forms over the Bay of Bengal in Andhra Pradesh coastal areas, chances are remote for Chennai city to record rain,” said the official, adding that Southern and Western regions were receiving heavy rains on Thursday night and Friday morning.

As far as rainfall in Chennai region was concerned, Ennore Port recorded 24 mm of rainfall, while Kanchipuram ISRO received 19 mm. The Nungambakkam weather station experienced 5 mm of rainfall.

Other districts like Viluppuram, Namakkal, Tiruchy, Tiruvarur and Pudukkottai recorded rain to some extent.
