The ruling dispensation is faced with the prospect of losing its majority in the Assembly as 19 dissident AIADMK legislators owing allegiance to deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran had withdrawn their support to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who is also the coordinator of the ‘steering committee’ post-merger, held a series of meetings with his supporters, including former minister KP Munusamy and minister ‘Ma Foi’ K Pandiarajan.
Ministers SP Velumani, P Thangamani, and MP R Vaithilingam later joined the deliberations and sources said they did discuss the agenda for Monday’s meeting. The ministers had a second round of meeting with the CM later in the day. “We have resolved to take a decision against Sasikala. Her days in the party are over,” said a senior party leader requesting anonymity.
One more MLA joins TTV camp Dinakaran now has the support of 21 MLAs as Vridhachalam MLA VT Kalaiselvan extended his support to him after meeting the latter on Friday night. He later told the media that Sasikala would remain the party’s general secretary forever.
