MLAs urge ruling camp, TTV faction to come together

Stating that it is time for all the 135 All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLAs to set aside differences and join hands to save the government, Perundurai MLA Thoppu ND Venkatachalam appealed to the CM to talk to the 19 rebel MLAs. Addressing reporters at his residence in Erode district on Thursday he said that the CM should talk to everyone, including TTV Dinakaran.

“The AIADMK is in a critical condition now. Without these 19 MLAs we don’t have majority. Continuing the government should be the priority for every MLA Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam have a long political experience. The government as well as the party need their guidance. So, they should take the lead, listen to the grievances and views of those 19 MLAs,” the former minister said.

The MLA pointed out that all the ministers and MLAs including the 19 rebel MLAs with Dinakaran were identified by Jayalalithaa. “She campaigned for all of us. We were united when she left us but a few cracks have formed now. I am confident that all the MLAs would soon unite for the government to continue,” he added.

“I am an AIADMK MLA,” said the MLA, who was identified as a Dinakaran man as he did not take sides with Panneerselvam or Palaniswami even when the faction feud was at its peak. Venkatachalam said this when asked if he belonged to the TTV Dinakaran faction or Palanisamy faction.

    Contradictions

At one point of time during the press meet the Perundurai MLA also said that the Chief Minister should play the role of a mother (Amma). “If a child (MLA) commits a mistake the mother (CM) has all the rights to correct them,” he said contradicting the earlier statements he made at the press meet for the party to unite and function as a family for continuance of the government. He also said that who is the CM or the Deputy CM is not important.

Meanwhile, in Pudukkottai, the MLA of Aranthangi EA Rathina Sabapathy claimed that VK Sasikala alone can be the General Secretary of AIADMK and TTV Dinakaran would be the Deputy General Secretary. He added that he would play as a connecting tool to merge EPS and TTV Dinakaran factions.

Sabapathy, who has been keeping himself away from both the factions met the reporters soon after the announcement of his brother Bharani Karthikeyan as the district secretary by TTV Dinakaran and said that he wanted to meet all the MLAs from all the factions including TTV Dinakaran faction and discuss the importance of being united as a single party.

“At this juncture, I would try and meet the members of all the factions and play a connecting bridge between the factions”, he said. He added that he was optimistic that the members would accept his opinion after he explained the details to them.
