Delayed joy for NEET toppers from Hosur, Kovai
For close to two hours after the Health Secretary released the NEET-based rank list for Tamil Nadu, R Santhosh of Hosur in Krishnagiri District, who stood first across the state scoring 656 marks, was still unaware of his fate.

This first year MBBS student was attending classes at JIPMER in Puducherry, when his father shared the good news to him on WhatsApp.
Similarly, GM Mukesh Kanna of Coimbatore, who stood second with 655 marks, was topper from the Higher Secondary (state board) stream which he had completed in 2015, scoring 1,165 marks out of 1,200.
Both Santhosh’s parents are doctors. He wants to do research in medicine and find a cure for diseases that puzzle the medical world. He would usually accompany his parents to the hospital and inquire about the rare ailments. He is from the CBSE stream and he studied in TVS Academy, Hosur, till Class 10. Since the school did not have higher secondary classes, he completed his plus two in Kumaran School, Bengaluru.
On the other hand, Mukesh discontinued engineering in a renowned private college to prepare for NEET with dedication. Interestingly, weeks before the state published the results, he got an MBBS seat in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital through the All India Quota, in which he had secured the 260th rank pan India.
